JAMB RESTRICTS UNIVERSITIES, POLYTECHNICS FROM SALES OF POST UTME FORMS
Higher education institutions in Nigeria, such as universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, have been ordered to stop marketing part-time, remote learning, and other alternative admission forms to applicants.
The examination board said that all admission into first-degree programmes, National Diplomas, National Innovation Diplomas, and the Nigeria Certificate in Education—whether full- or part-time—must henceforth be processed through JAMB in a tweet on Thursday, August 23
No institution may sell application forms for admission to these programmes, according to the examination board, and all applicants must apply through JAMB.
JAMB further added that the policy directive would be enforced through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), National Universities Commission (NUC), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and they will ensure that all tertiary institutions adhere to it.
This is coming when many institutions are rounding up their academic sessions and opening their portals to admission seekers.
While JAMB did not give a reason for the new directive, the development also came at a time when President Bola Tinubu signed the student loan bill into law
The statement partly read:
“All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed ONLY through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
“No Institution should advertise or sell “application forms” for admissions into the programmes.”
